week 8 Lab/lecture

                                   Week 8 Lab/Lecture

  •                                    Week 9 Lab/Lecture

    • Description of what we did in the lab?https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1U_mbKomuz5pA6SSsrsdxWTUVqeJUFXOUEg0IDS85E54/edit#slide=id.g26a96c0c7f8_1_744
      • This week during lab we went through everyone's presentations and got a rundown of the universe, black holes, galaxies, stars, and space exploration. My group did the presentation on black holes. We also did some quiz questions to help us prepare for the quiz that comes after spring break.
    • The big question addressed in the lab?
      • We didn't have just one big question, we had a few questions we discussed that got us prepared for the quiz.
    • A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture.
      • We went over the Big Bang and the Origin of the Universe.
      • We also went over the alternative theories that come with the Big Bang.
      • We also went over the stars, the universe's origin, Earth's formation, galaxies, and black holes.
      • I missed the lecture so I went over the lecture slides on my own.
    • Answer questions about the weekly textbook reading:
    • What did you learn?
      • The Big Bang theory is still semi-correct because the universe did happen in a sort of bang but not a sound came from it. It was more of a silent explosion.
    • What was most helpful?
      • I liked the visuals for the lifecycles of stars. It shows it is an excellent way for us to understand it.
    • What do you need more information on?
      • how the heck are we made out of stardust?
    • What questions/concerns/comments do you have?
      • How did they come up with all of these names for stars etc in space.

Week 6

Lab Week Six Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week I learned more about turtles and what happens after they hatch or not even hatch and what happens to them. I learned that turtles follow the moonlight after they hatch. I also learned that other lights can deter turtles from making it to the ocean because they can get confused.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  In my 5th grade class, we did this same exact lesson, we grew the same plants and then pollinated them with dead bees. I learned more about the cycle of the plant now than I did in 5th grade.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  Why do turtles follow the light to the ocean??

week 8

Lab Week Eight Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  I learned about the pairing in genes and about how you can tell if there is a alter in it just by one letter.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  I have already learned about the letter pairing in genes, I learned about it in my high school years. I learned more about those things in this week's lab.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  I wonder which set of genes were altered in my DNA that created a birth defect in me.

week 13 lab/lecture

Week13 Lab/Lecture Description of what we did in the lab? Weather is day to day.  The climate is the average of weather over thirty years.  The climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get.  Goldfinches will eventually go further north because of climate and precipitation. New state bird? Eventually might get Missouris birds?  Is the Loon going to Canada? Wild call.  The world is getting hot, the world is going to shit, people, animals, plants are dying and people are getting sick.  We wrote a very lovely worded email to tedward. \=] The big question addressed in the lab?  How do we know that the Goldfinch is in fanger in Iowa?  What type of data do we have that supports that climate change is happening? A description of what you learned in Thursday's lectu...
