Week 7

Lab Week Seven

Focus Questions:

The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?

1. What did you learn this week?

This week I missed lab because I was ill but I was able to retrieve this week's lab slides. Since I can only go off what I retrieved I learned about how DNA goes into protein from the video we watched. I also learned about what goes into DNA, protein, and the process.

2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?

In high school, we did the baby experiment where we flipped a coin to determine what the baby would look like so I am well versed on that. I think it is a good experiment for middle-aged kids because it helps them understand the idea of how genetics works.

3. What are new or remaining questions?

A question I have would have to be about myself because I would like to know how I received a birth defect and what maybe would have caused it. I don't know much about it but I would like to know if it is possible to give it to my kids.

Week 6

Lab Week Six Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week I learned more about turtles and what happens after they hatch or not even hatch and what happens to them. I learned that turtles follow the moonlight after they hatch. I also learned that other lights can deter turtles from making it to the ocean because they can get confused.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  In my 5th grade class, we did this same exact lesson, we grew the same plants and then pollinated them with dead bees. I learned more about the cycle of the plant now than I did in 5th grade.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  Why do turtles follow the light to the ocean??

week 13 lab/lecture

Week13 Lab/Lecture Description of what we did in the lab? Weather is day to day.  The climate is the average of weather over thirty years.  The climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get.  Goldfinches will eventually go further north because of climate and precipitation. New state bird? Eventually might get Missouris birds?  Is the Loon going to Canada? Wild call.  The world is getting hot, the world is going to shit, people, animals, plants are dying and people are getting sick.  We wrote a very lovely worded email to tedward. \=] The big question addressed in the lab?  How do we know that the Goldfinch is in fanger in Iowa?  What type of data do we have that supports that climate change is happening? A description of what you learned in Thursday's lectu...

Week 9 Lab/Lecture

Week 9 Lab/Lecture Description of what we did in the lab? In the lab, I learned how the presidential election shows the old 100 million-year-old coastline. It is believed it is that way because there were more blacks in the area so they voted for someone that looked like them.  We also created a timeline of the whole universe, we had the Big Bang, then the creation of the earth, moon, animals, plants, and humans, and the creation of the moon.  We also then looked up the interactive we were using, 5 events that happened from the beginning of Earth to now.  The big question addressed in the lab?  What came first on Earth? Humans, dinosaurs, land plants, land animals, or the creation of the moon?  A description of what you learned in Thursday's lecture. Took an exam.  Answer questio...
