week 9

Lab Week Nine Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  I learned how to demonstrate a natural selection lab with our "Bean Lab" this week. This lab demonstrated predators, prey, abiotic and biotic within environments.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?   Natural selection is when individuals with certain inherited traits are more likely to survive and reproduce offspring than individuals without those traits. I already knew what natural selection was but this week's lab helped me understand it more. In high school, we did another activity for natural selection. 3. What are new or remaining questions?  How does natural selection affect alleles?

week 8

Lab Week Eight Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  I learned about the pairing in genes and about how you can tell if there is a alter in it just by one letter.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  I have already learned about the letter pairing in genes, I learned about it in my high school years. I learned more about those things in this week's lab.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  I wonder which set of genes were altered in my DNA that created a birth defect in me.

Week 7

Lab Week Seven Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week I missed lab because I was ill but I was able to retrieve this week's lab slides. Since I can only go off what I retrieved I learned about how DNA goes into protein from the video we watched. I also learned about what goes into DNA, protein, and the process.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  In high school, we did the baby experiment where we flipped a coin to determine what the baby would look like so I am well versed on that. I think it is a good experiment for middle-aged kids because it helps them understand the idea of how genetics works.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  A question I have would have to be ...
