week 14

Lab Week Fourteen Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week I skimmed through the 'Science & Children' magazine that talks about the world. This magazine had many ideas for lesson plans. I now know that these kinds of magazines can be very important for teachers if they are struggling to find lesson ideas.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  We talked about how we can adjust lessons for students who struggle with reading and students who excel. I already have discussed these kinds of adjustments in other classes so it was a pretty simple task for me to do.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  What are the best ways to introduce new science topics to young students?

Lab Week Thirteen Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week I learned more about the m&m experiment. We discussed more factors that could im pact the results. We broke down in groups, between sugar and temperature to see which would spread colors faster. This week I learned more ways to ask questions.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  We discussed atoms, particles, and matter today. I already knew about particles and that the more particles there are the more density it has.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  Does the temperature of the water determine how fast the color spreads in the m&m experiment?

Lab Week Twelve Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week during lab I learned how to find the volume of something through water. To find the volume of something you start with a cylinder with measurements on the side fill it to 30mL and then stick the item in the water and the amount it made the water raise is the volume.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  I had done the sink or float test before in previous schooling but learned more items that sink and float from the activity done in the lab. I have also conducted electricity experiments before as well.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  Who came up with the conducting electricity experiment?

Lab Week Eleven Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  I learned during lab that it takes a lot of force to pull a plunger straight up off a surface it is suctioned to.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  I did the m&m lab in high school so I already knew what was going to happen when you put an m&m in the water. But I did learn that if you put multiple in the water next to each other and make a train of them, the colors make curvy lines and it looks really cool.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  Why is it so hard to pull a plunger straight up?
