Week 6

Lab Week Six Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week I learned more about turtles and what happens after they hatch or not even hatch and what happens to them. I learned that turtles follow the moonlight after they hatch. I also learned that other lights can deter turtles from making it to the ocean because they can get confused.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  In my 5th grade class, we did this same exact lesson, we grew the same plants and then pollinated them with dead bees. I learned more about the cycle of the plant now than I did in 5th grade.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  Why do turtles follow the light to the ocean??

Week 5

Lab Week Five Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week during the lecture I learned about ecology. I had a good base of knowledge of what ecology is but I got a better understanding of each biome.  6 Main Biomes - Desert: Covers 1/5 of the earth.  -Forest: Occupy 1/3 of earth's land.  -Grassland: Well adapted to grow back after a fire.  -Tundra: Summer is only 6-10 weeks.  -Marine: Covers about 3/4 earth's surface.  -Freshwater: There is a low salt content, less than 1%.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  Yes, I am able to relate back to what I learned in elementary school to what I learned during this week's lab and lecture. I already knew about biomes, food cha...

Week 4

Lab Week Four Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week during lab I learned about the 5E modeling system.  -Engage -Explore -Explain -Extend -Evaluate  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  I already knew about there being systems out there in the science methods world having some sort of way to remember ways to ask students questions etc. but I did not know what it was called or what it all included.  3. What are new or remaining questions?  One question I had from this week was how did they come up with the 5E modeling system?

Week 3

Lab Week Three Focus Questions:  The three questions I have chosen to focus on from this week's lab were; What did you learn this week? Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew? and What are new or remaining questions?  1. What did you learn this week?  This week during the lecture I learned there were multiple kinds of biomes. I thought there were only about 5 but there are a lot more than that.  2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?  We worked on life cycles during lab this week. We were asked to make our own life cycle with our table groups. My group; Maci, Oksana, Cece, and I made the life cycle of a frog. I already knew how frogs started out but I did not know before they transformed completely into a frog they were called a 'froglet' and it has a tail. It is very interesting how tadpoles transform into a frog body but still have a tail. 3. What are new or remaining questions?  How long does...
